TRiBE Culture Fest, an international sports, culture, and tourism platform in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Football Association and other stakeholders, has officially launched the highly anticipated nationwide activation alongside the “16 by 16” and “Ghana Funfest” initiatives, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The dual launch shows a bold and inclusive vision to bring the excitement of the World Cup to every corner of the country while positioning Ghana strongly on the global stage through culture, tourism, and sport.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of TRiBE Culture Fest, Nana Boateng Gyimah, underscored the motivation behind the initiative and its inclusive approach.

“We knew from the get-go that many of our brothers and sisters would not be able to experience the World Cup abroad, therefore, we decided to take the World Cup to each and every region of Ghana, ensuring that no one is left out,” he said.

According to Mr. Gyimah, the 16 by 16 initiative will establish high-quality public viewing centres across all 16 regions, creating vibrant spaces for football fans to gather, celebrate, and connect throughout the tournament.

“Beyond match screenings, the activations will feature football clinics, cultural exhibitions, music, food experiences, and community engagements, creating a holistic festival atmosphere that blends sport with Ghanaian identity,” he noted.

Mr. Gyimah added that TRiBE Culture Fest will also roll out activities in the three host countries—the United States, Canada, and Mexico—strengthening diaspora engagement and showcasing Ghana’s culture on the global stage.

For her part, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mrs Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto, highlighted the broader national impact of the initiative.

“This is not just about football; it is about tourism, community engagement, identity, and economic stimulation, turning every region into a hub where sports meet culture and Ghana tells her story to the world,” she stated.

As part of efforts to support Ghanaians travelling to the World Cup, TRiBE Culture Fest has also established a dedicated TRiBE Culture Office at the stadium, serving as a one-stop information and support centre.

The office will provide essential services including World Cup information, activation locations, ticketing support, visa guidance, flight assistance, accommodation arrangements, and ground transportation coordination across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This initiative is expected to ease travel planning and enhance the overall experience for Ghanaian supporters journeying abroad to cheer on the Black Stars.

Earlier, Cultural Attaché at the United States Embassy, Danye Eldridge, said the programme offered a powerful platform for cultural diplomacy and stronger people-to-people ties between Ghana and the host nations.

She emphasised: “The World Cup is not only a sporting event; it is a global cultural moment. Through 16×16, Ghana is turning that moment into a shared experience, connecting people, cultures, and nations in a way that is both authentic and impactful.”

Also speaking at the launch, the general secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Mr. Anthony Baffour, commended the vision and collaborative effort behind the project.

“We are truly excited about this partnership, one that beautifully connects culture, football, and global engagement while creating meaningful impact for players, fans, and the country.”

PFAG is set to play a key role in the initiative through football clinics and mentorship programmes, helping to nurture young talent while strengthening fan engagement nationwide.

The initiative is being executed in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority, the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Football Association, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, AFCHAT, Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Sportslife and other key stakeholders.
