Ultimate Pro Gaming (UPG) eSports Agency made history on Saturday, February 25, 2023, with the first-ever UPG FIFA22 Esports tournament. The event brought together six teams from different regions of Ghana, each determined to take home the coveted title and take home the biggest piece from the cash poll of GHC13,000.
The finals of the tournament held at the Aviation Social Centre in Accra displayed an excited audience of esports enthusiasts gathered to witness the action-packed competition. The atmosphere was electric as the players, all dressed in their team uniforms, took their positions, ready to battle it out for the top spot.
The tournament featured an all-play-all scheme, with each team playing five matches. PlayProvince and Xplosion, emerged as the two best-performing teams, earning their spots in the final.
The final match was fiercely contested, with both teams displaying exceptional talent and technique – the tension in the air was palpable. PlayProvince seized the opportunity with grit and secured the victory in their final game to become the champions of the UPG FIFA22 Esports tournament in a close meltdown
Team Falcons, representing Accra, finished in third place with seven points, while Ruutz Esports, representing Takoradi, finished fourth with six points. Originals and Modernrow, both representing Kumasi, finished fifth and sixth respectively.
The audience erupted in cheers and applause as PlayProvince lifted the trophy, with Xplosion and Team Falcons following in second and third place, respectively. The winners received GHC10,000, while the second and third-placed teams took home GHC2,000 and GHC1,000, respectively.
