Usain Bolt Set For Trial With Champions League Club

Having conquered the world of running around an athletics track really, really fast, Usain Bolt may finally be able to live out his dream of playing football professionally.
The eight time Olympic gold medalist and fastest man in the history of Earth has been offered a trial with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Bolt – a lifelong Manchester United fan – has previously trained with his beloved Red Devils and has attended several games at Old Trafford over the last few years, but has never formally been on trial anywhere. Until now.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said in an interview with RevierSport, “Our word is our bond.
“I will meet Puma CEO Bjorn Gulden this week. And that’s on our list.”
The Bundesliga club may prove to be the ideal match for Bolt, given that they are both sponsored by Puma and BVB play in black and yellow, much like Bolt raced in for Jamaica en route to amassing gold medals and shattering world records.
The 31-year-old sprinter retired from athletics earlier this year, following the World Championships in London, where he sadly suffered a hamstring injury in his final ever race, the 4x100m. It was an injury that also ruled the Jamaican out of a Legends game between Manchester United and Barcelona, in September.
Speaking of the opportunity with Dortmund, Bolt said, via the Mirror, “Dortmund said the invitation is always open, so it is all about me getting over my injury and into shape.
“Then I can explore it and do the trials and see what level I am at. It’s a personal goal, I don’t care what people really think about it.
“I am not going to lie to myself – if I feel I can’t do it, I am going to say, ‘Forget this.’ I am not going to embarrass myself.
“Unfortunately, I got a bad hamstring injury in August and haven’t been able to do any training since then. Hopefully I will be able to play some games in 2018.”
Could it happen? Could we see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being partnered with the world’s fastest ever month at some point, this season?
