Vodafone Ghana has taken its recently launched National Coding Programme to the Central region as part of efforts to reach the entire country before the end of March 2019.
The telecommunications company recently announced that its new coding programme is part of a unique strategy to ignite Ghana’s digital revolution and will benefit 10,000 Ghanaians in five years. The telecommunications company has already indicated a desire to equip the Ghanaian youth to be competitive in the ever changing global world of technology through coding.
The five-day programme, which began last Monday August 27th at Adisadel College, is training 50 teenagers between the ages of 14 – 18 years.
Ebenezer Amankwah, Corporate Relations Manager at Vodafone Ghana said:
“The pace of growth of technology across the world has made it imperative for countries like Ghana to become creators of technology and not only consumers. To make this happen, it has to start with the youth and what better way to empower them than through this initiative. It is more critical for the beneficiaries of digitalisation to, more than ever, understand the language of the platform and this can be achieved through coding. We are excited to be leading the digital revolution agenda in Ghana.”
The programme is targeted at Ghanaian youth aged between 14 and 18 years with a passion for technological innovation and will typically last for five days in each region.
The Ashanti Region is the next stop for the initiative; beginning on Monday September 3rd, 2018.
Already the team has trained 50 youth in the Greater Accra region at the Accra Digital Center.
