Ghana’s prime urban and lifestyle radio station YFM has officially opened up public voting for the third edition of the much-anticipated music awards night, the ‘Y Rated Awards’.
The awards ceremony which has been running for three years aims at celebrating Ghanaian artistes and producers contributing to the development of Ghana’s music industry. This year’s edition will also celebrate the impact of digital music in the Ghanaian music space.
The coordinator in charge of the Y Triangle, Osei Kuffuor speaking at the launch, encouraged music enthusiasts to vote for their favourite musicians and explained the voting process.
“This year’s awards scheme is one that promises to be exciting and memorable, and I entreat all music enthusiasts to vote for their favourite artistes. The free voting process will be conducted online on the YFM website. Log on to www.yfmghana.com to vote for your favourite artistes to win in their respective categories. The public gets the autonomous power to make a winner of a category since all 100% votes will be determined by the public,” he explained.
Categories up for grabs this year include; the Best Rated Song of the Year, Best Rated Tape of the Year, Next Rated Artiste of the Year (which goes to new artistes of the Year), Best Rated Reggae-Dancehall song, Best Rated Highlife Song, Best Rated Afro-Pop Song of the Year, Best Rated Rap Song of the Year, Best Rated Group of the Year, Best Rated Collaboration of the Year, Best Rated African Song of the Year, Best Rated Gospel Song of the Year, Best Rated Video of the Year, and the new introduction, Best Rated Alté.
