It’s the musical sequel you never knew you needed.
Sisqo has released an official 2017 update of ‘Thong Song’, all with the help of Norwegian production trio Jcy, along with a music video accompaniment that is – surprise, surprise – mainly shots of women’s butts.
“I’ve been asked so many times over the years to make a new version of ‘Thong Song,’ and I have declined every time until I heard the new version that Jcy did,” Sisqo explained in an interview with Buzzfeed. “I thought it was dope and figured maybe it was time to put some new rims on the Bugatti.”
The track originally featured on Sisqo’s 1999 debut albumUnleash the Dragon, with the song released as a single on New Year’s Eve of that year. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Charts, but its popularity has only grown since then.
One thing that’s regrettably missing, however, are any of those iconic flips from the original. Sisqo also explained to Buzzfeed that an injury prior to filming regrettably left him with three dislocated ribs.
He added, “The epitome of insult to injury was the couple of hours we had to learn brand new choreography for the video right before recording it where in most cases you get a week to learn a new routine.”
The thongs, however, remained unharmed. Which is presumably what’s important in this situation.
