WayV, the Chinese unit of South Korean group Neo Culture Technology (NCT) made an appearance on YFM’s playlist last week as a special request.
The 7-member act featured on Pop Central’s playlist with the English version of “Love Talk”, a song off their recently released album “Take over the Moon”.
While this is the first time a Chinese group’s song was played on the weekend Pop Show, this would not be the first time a Chinese act has been included on YFM’s playlist.
Zhang Yixing, the Chinese member of the Korean Pop group EXO has been on rotation on both Pop Central and the drive time show “The DrYve”. Popularly known as Lay, the solo artist has had songs such as “Honey”, “Peach” and “China Sheep” as well as his collaboration with Jason Derulo and NCT 127 “Shut Up and Dance” on rotation.
Jackson Wang, CEO of China-based record label Team Wang and member of Korean boy band GOT7, has also had his share of airplay on YFM. The rapper has had hits such as “Bullet to the Heart”, “Papillion”, “Titanic” make their way into Pop Central’s Korean Pop playlist.
Pop Central is a one-Hour show which features a mix of Pop Music from various parts of the world including South Korea. It is hosted by Winston Micheals and airs on Sundays from 4 pm to 5 pm.
