French Minister of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships, Chrysoula Zacharopoulou has championed cultural exchange between Ghana and France to harness the capacity of creatives of both countries.
During her official visit to Ghana, the French Minister was impressed by the progress made by young Ghanaian talents in sports and the music industry.
Minister Zacharopoulou was particularly impressed by the masterclasses organized by Vibrate Space at the Freedom Skatepark, which train young creatives and talents in both sports and the music business.
She expressed her desire for a cultural exchange between Ghana and France, not only between the two countries but also to build beneficial relationships between people.
Asked by Ian Otchere of Y 107.9 FM what the best moment during her trip to Ghana had been, she pointed to her visit to the Freedom Skate Park and the Vibrate Studio as she said, “It is a nice project which was created by youth, and is helping young people by training them in sports and also in the music business. So I saw that there are so many talents and progress and this is exactly how I see the partnership between our two countries. For example we don’t need to just be partners but we need to look at how we can create links, human links between people from our countries.”
She believes that the youth of both countries must explore each other’s cultures and build human links between them. To this end, Minister Zacharopoulou has invited the young Ghanaians involved in the Vibrate Space project to come to Paris in October.
“I think that the youth of both countries must explore this culture, and we can explore this relationship, that’s why I enjoyed the moment and want to invite them to come to Paris in October,” she added.
The French Minister’s visit has been seen as a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between Ghana and France. It is hoped that the exchange between the two countries will lead to a better understanding of each other’s cultures and will pave the way for further cooperation in various fields.
