The Spain under-21 international has certainly made a lasting impression on Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
“Sergio Ramos has congratulated me and told me to continue like this, and that I will have many minutes,” he said (via Goal).
Madrid rate Díaz highly and have set a release clause in his contract that is higher than Lionel Messi’s. In fact, it also includes an anti-Manchester United clause in it.
Speaking after the match, the former City player said that it was a “dream” of his to play for Los Blancos.
“This is great, an unforgettable and unique day,” he explained.
“Making my debut at the [Santiago] Bernabéu is great. This is a dream since I was a child.
“Winning makes the dream greater, but I take everything in peace. I will hang my debut shirt in my room.”
Santiago Solari’s men defeated Leganes 3-0 in the first leg at the Bernabéu.
Ramos opened the scoring from the spot kick in the first half, with Lucas Vázquez and Vinícius Júnior finding the back of the net in the second half.
