Programs Manager for YFM, Erskine Whyte has opened up about what’s next for the brand and its dynamic future.
As the sounds of Ghana’s youth continue to evolve, so does the station that has always been at the heart of it all.
Speaking on 3Music’s Morning Bite with Jay Foley, Rev. Erskine said
with new generation like Gen Z and Gen Alpha stepping into the spotlight, YFM is not just keeping up but growing together with them.
“I think we are adding on new stuff. We’ll still appeal to almost every age group. At some point, I’m sure that in five years we’ll still be around. If it’s electronic music that’s trending at that time, we’ll definitely be in the scene still championing it,” he shared.
He maintained that YFM has always been more than just a radio station, adding that the brand is constantly evolving to reflect the changing tastes of its audience.
“There was a point where alte music became a thing, and brand YFM responded. We launched programs like Alte Lounge which started as a segment and it’s now a whole show bringing together alte artistes and giving them space to express themselves” he said.
He revealed the brand’s solid strategy which is staying rooted in consistency and innovation with a main goal of ensuring the needs of every generation both current and future sees themselves in the brand.
“We are creating space for every genre that is sought after. One thing I can tell you for sure is that we’re still working hard, sticking to our core programming, which is also growing and updating along the way. When you look up, you should see YFM.”
