Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Eric Nii Baah has said that the other goalkeepers in the current team struggling for game time may decide to look for opportunities elsewhere.
Currently, Asante Kotoko has Razak Abalorah in the post as the first-choice goalkeeper, Captain Felix Annan and Kwame Baah have been relegated to the bench while Danlad Ibrahim is on loan at King Faisal.
The Porcupine Warriors boast of these four good goalkeepers in the squad, all with national team experience.
According to Nii Baah, this could turn out positive or negative for the team because of the competition in the goalkeeping department.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Where Are They? segment on Happy Sports with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on the issue he said, “It’s both an advantage and a disadvantage having all these good national team goalkeepers in the squad.”
“In a positive way, there is always a good replacement whenever there is an injury situation at the club. However there are other goalkeepers on the bench who will feel desperate to be in post and might be thinking they want to leave the club for more playtime elsewhere”, he said.
Eric Nii Baah seemed to have some luck as he made his debut for the Porcupine Warriors in the biggest game on the domestic scene against Hearts of Oak.
“My first official game was against Hearts of Oak but we lost that game by a lone goal. I did very well in that game as well. I had a lot of support from the fans on my debut and I was very proud of myself.”
