Fuse ODG, a Ghanaian-born afro-beats recording artiste based in London has enumerated some significant moments of his ten-year music career.
In an interview with Macall Mensah on Y 97.9 FM during the ‘Y Entertainment Podium’, the ‘No Daylight’ hitmaker mentioned that winning his first-ever ‘Music of Black Origin’ (MOBO) award and performing on national television was of much significance to him. He also mentioned meeting and featuring Haitian rapper Wyclef.
“When I won the MOBO, to me it was a big deal because Africa had never been represented like that before, winning the MOBO and performing on national TV and the way we represented with the Kente and that had never been done on National TV before, so to me that was a very significant moment and I was able to talk about Africa and changing the perception of where I was from. Another significant moment will be when I landed with Wyclef on my ‘Antenna’ Remix”, he said.
Speaking to his low moments in his music career so far, the rapper mentioned that one he would consider as his low moment was before he came into the limelight. He mentioned that it was frustrating recording songs and the songs not meeting his expectations.
“It is hard for me to term anything like a low because I feel it was a lesson, but I will say that before my first hit ‘Azonto’. It was very frustrating as an artiste, because you know as an artiste you have to keep investing in your music, videos, studio sessions, and every time you are not getting the results that you need. So, I will say my lowest or biggest lessons were before I blew up as an artiste”, he added.
Fuse ODG advised upcoming musicians to stay focused and continue pushing with their records and talents.
Fuse ODG is a Ghanaian-born, UK-based afro-beats artist who rose to prominence following the release of his smash single “Antenna” in 2013.
