Nigeria’s most famed Afrobeats artiste, Wizkid Ayo may have a lot of ‘brand bruises’ to fix after reports indicate that he skipped a widely publicised event that was supposed to happen at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Côte d’Ivoire.
Wizkid was due to arrive in Abidjan for a performance at 6pm & do Cotonou at 11pm on the same day. He showed up for the latter. It’s unclear why that happened. This occurred just 24 hours after he declined to attend another function in Ghana’s Accra Sports Stadium.
The international artiste initially scheduled to perform simultaneously in Benin and Côte d’Ivoire selected the latter, according to Abidjanshow , despite the long wait from the audience for their idol.

According to reports, Wizkid has now broken his agreement to perform in Abidjan twice.
Disappointed Willy Dumbo, one of the event’s organisers, walked up to the stage and yelled out his disappointment at Wizkid and his entire crew. He expressed regret to the crowd and assured them he would deal with Wizkid’s group, who were already in Abidjan.
“Everyone has been paid. All fees have been paid. Wizkid had to play in Abidjan before going to Cotonou. I can’t ask you to stay for someone who doesn’t respect you. A press release will be issued as soon as possible. But don’t worry, the rest of wizkid’s staff, that is to say, musicians are in Abidjan. They won’t move until Wizkid gives back what he needs to give back,” he told patrons gathered on the night.
