Rhoda Naa Yemoley Odoi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana’s fast-growing digital marketing company, HypeNet Marketing Group, becomes the youngest achiever and entrepreneur to be featured on the youth-inspiring radio programme, Y Leaderboard series.
Rhoda in a one-on-one interview with Rev Erskine, host of Y 107.9 FM’s “Myd Morning Radio Show’ rolled out her journey through life from growing up in a strict home, merged into the act of conscious discipline, challenging herself and striving for excellence in all aspect of life to becoming an accomplished entrepreneur and the CEO of HypeNet Marketing Group.
She recounted growing up in a well-organized home, where her parents strived to provide the basic needs for her and her siblings. She indicated that she grew up with two brilliant brothers, who set high limits for her to meet. Being the only girl, Odoi felt the pressure to do better than her brothers, which pushed her to strive for excellence in all aspects of her life.
“Grew up in a military home and my Dad used to travel a lot but has my mom stay with us most of the time. She was the strict one surprisingly and she’s always the – don’t go out, do your homework and read your books – type,” she said.
For her, she was more challenged when her mother, the strict one in the family, never compared her to any female but always to her elder brothers.
“I grew up with two big brothers, intelligent ones and they was this high limit they set for me. So being the only girl it always felt like I definitely had to do better than what my brothers did before. My mom never compared me with any female either friend, family or whatever. It was always my elder brothers,” she shared.
She believes her drive for excellence is a result of the high expectations she had to meet growing up, which has continued to shape her pursuit of excellence in her personal and professional life.
During the interview, Odoi talked about her move to Ghana from the United States to make her mark in digital marketing, influence change, and impact society. She believed that there were many opportunities in Ghana to exhibit what she had studied, particularly in Google Analytics, which was not well-known by many people in Ghana.
She saw this as an opportunity to make an impact, saying, “In Ghana, there were more opportunities; I realized that in Ghana, most of the things that I even learned five years ago, I am now doing them; Google Analytics isn’t even big yet in Ghana, so I decided to come to where it hasn’t really developed because that is where the opportunities are.”
Miss Odoi’s passion for digital marketing sparked her determination to start HypeNet Marketing Group, a digital marketing company that focuses on providing excellent services to its clients. She talked about the company’s commitment to meeting high expectations and providing value to its clients. She emphasized that her goal is to impact society positively, and HypeNet Marketing Group is one of the other ways she is achieving this.
Having already gotten her business flourishing, she shares that despite the challenges that cross her path, her budding and vibrant team pushing her to achieve beyond the sky. She highlights money as the least factor that has kept her going all these years in her career journey as a digital marketer.
“The team because I look at it that Rashid, Bernie, Nana Kwame and all the boys in the office have sacrificed literally their whole lives to be with me. So, if today I say I’m stopping what happens to them”.
“No, I can’t give up on these people. I have to still continue because since I started in 2014 they have been with me and for them it is also not about the money but getting the work done,” she added.
As the CEO of HypeNet Marketing Group featured on the Y Leaderboard Series, Rhoda Odai’s story inspires a new set of generational achievers with her drive and commitment to excellence. Her appearance on the Y Leaderboard series is a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and a source of inspiration for young people looking to make their mark in the world.
“You won’t believe me but I’m indeed overwhelmed with the new and innovative way the team behind the Y Leaderboard Series has brought up to not celebrate only renowned and huge figures in society but also give a chance to the striving ones who have proven overtime that they have it in them. We want to inspire the youth and now only the youth can do that best, since there are already in the same shoes. We are grateful to Miss Rhoda Odoi for setting the pace and reigniting the spark,” Programmes Manager of Y 107.9FM, Eddy Blay Jnr remarked
