YFM, Ghana’s number one urban radio station, has once again solidified its position as the pacesetter in the DJ industry.
YFM has yet again proven its talents are the best in the nation, after female DJs of the brand secured the highest number of nominations in the Female DJ of the Year category of the prestigious 2024 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards.
Two of YFM’s talented female DJs, DJ Coleda and DJ Nyce, have been recognized for their exceptional talents and contributions to the music scene.
Their nominations are the results of their hard work, creativity, and ability to connect with audiences through their unique styles and mixes.
“YFM’s female DJs have been pivotal in challenging gender stereotypes within the male-dominated DJ industry. Their success has paved way for other aspiring female DJs and has inspired a new generation of talents. For example, Y 102.5 FM Kumasi was the first radio station in the Ashanti Region to employ a female DJ, DJ Coleda,” Director for Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company (GMABC), Timothy Karikari stated.
He further described the YFM brand as always giving equal opportunities to all and as such, has one of the highest number of female DJs in the Ghanaian radio market.
The Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, established to celebrate and appreciate the skills of DJs in Ghana, aims to foster the development of the local music industry. The scheme recognizes the electronic dance music scene and highlights the significant role DJs play in the entertainment industry.
Guinness Ghana DJ Awards 2024 will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, 8 PM at the Palms Convention Centre. The event will mark 12 years of celebrating exceptional DJ entertainment in Ghana.
