Ghana’s leading urban radio station and the official frequency for the “Young and Young at Heart”, YFM produced three winners at the just-ended 2022 Ghana DJ Awards.
Ghana’s untouchable and most notable Hypeman, Kojo Manuel, the Dangerous DJ, DJ Loft and the Shutdown King, DJ Mic Smith all earned deserved recognition at Ghana’s prestigious entertainment awards event.
Kojo Manuel:
Born Emmanuel Kusi Nyantakyi, Kojo Manuel is already having an unending stellar year earned through zealous dedication and commitment. He was crowned the best “MC/Hypeman of the Year” at the Ghana DJ Awards 2022.
Having won the award previously in 2019, Kojo Manuel has graced several stages both in Ghana and beyond, hosted patrons with some overwhelming party themes and mostly flagged the Ghanaian colours with the “Mad Culture” podcast.
Currently the resident MC for Carbon Night Club, the Host of Y107.9 FM’s “Drye of your Lyfe”, Kojo Manuel’s highlight of the year was during his epic performance at the Global Citizen Festival in Accra where patrons were thrilled, singing along to his famous tag, “Are You Mad!”
After Kojo Manuel’s consistent display of surreal performances at the Detty Rave party and the Tidal Rave, he recently joined the headliners billed to perform at the Afrochella festival in South Africa and as well, rocked the stage.
Winning the best MC/Hypeman at the 10th edition of Ghana’s Dj Awards, Kojo Manuel quoted, “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up. Big Thank You to everyone. DJ Loft:
Touted as the “Dangerous DJ” behind the turntables, Solomon Obeng otherwise known as DJ Loft emerged as the “Afrobeat/Hiplife DJ of the Year”.
Another blazing talent who has displayed versatility across the big stages he mounted throughout the year. He has carved a niche for himself with popular mixes including his popular “Cup and Bass (Afrobeats and Asaka)” mix with Kojo Manuel among other thrilling hit mixes.
He also starred in the star-studded headliners for the Afrochella Festival in South Africa with electrifying performances.
“Winning this award is significant in my career and I want to share it with my team, friends and family. Mic Smith:
The illustrious Ghanaian DJ, Micheal Owusu, best known as DJ Mic Smith won the best “Event DJ of the Year” at the 2022 Ghana DJ Awards.
DJ Mic Smith’s longevity in the Ghanaian industry is overwhelming and he doesn’t look to slow down anytime soon.
The radio DJ host of Y107.9 FM’s “Dryve of Your Lyfe” widely recognized as the Shutdown King has wowed revellers at several major events this year. His highlight performance came at the most talked about 2022 Global Citizen Festival in Accra.
From the turntables, he teamed up with Kojo Manuel as they flagged Ghana’s music up high with back-to-back hits from the High-Life era through to Azonto and a blend of new school
