Y97.9FM Takoradi has deepened its relationship with regional authorities with a strategic courtesy call on the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).
The delegation led by the station’s Programs Manager, Maxline Chelsy Sey, focused on youth development, investment in the creative arts, and upcoming programming initiatives tailored to the needs of the Western Region.
Speaking at the meeting, Chelsy Sey noted that YFM Takoradi has evolved beyond music and entertainment into a key development partner for the region.  She explained that the station aims to use its platforms to empower young people and drive positive social change.
“Our mission at YFM has always been to empower the ‘Young and Gifted.’ By visiting the Regional Minister today, we are aligning our influence with the region’s development goals,” she said. “We believe that through collaborative storytelling and strategic platforms, we can inspire the youth of Takoradi to take active roles in the growth of the Western Region.”
Hon. Joseph Nelson, who assumed office in early 2025, commended YFM for its consistent engagement with the youth and its impact on the region’s social and cultural landscape. He described the Western Region as the backbone of Ghana’s economy and emphasized the critical role of young people in its growth.
“I am impressed by the leadership YFM is showing. Radio is a powerful tool for mobilization, and my office is ready to support initiatives that bridge the gap between governance and the younger generation,” he stated.
The visit concluded with the presentation of YFM-branded souvenirs to the Minister and a mutual commitment to sustained collaboration.
