The race for who would be crowned the 2023 pool champion in the countrywide acclaimed National Pool Tournament, organized by Ghana’s foremost urban radio, YFM, is getting keener.
With the final contest fast approaching, participants simply cannot wait to battle it out for the top spot.
This year’s edition of the tournament has travelled weeks and the intensity is not coming down anytime soon even as the final approaches. Out of 30 players set to battle it all out in the finals, 20 players have secured their places with the remaining 10 to be selected from the last of sector contests.
Speaking about the qualification thus far, Manasseh Ampofo Kwafo, Project Lead for the tournament recalled the competition as having been fiercer than that of the previous year.
Explaining what has accounted for that, he credits the talkability of last year’s grand finale as motivation for a lot of players to compete and win the ultimate prize.
Aside playing in the Greater Accra Region, the 2022 edition of the tournament has visited the Central Region, the Western Region and is set to visit the Eastern and Ashanti Regions later this month before the finals.
All players and other stakeholders are in high spirit in anticipation of the grand finale.
The National Pool Tournament started on October, 28, 2022 in Accra. The pool tourney is scheduled to be played across over 30 outlets in Ghana prior to the finals.
The YFM National Pool tournament is in partnership with the National Sports Authority of Ghana.
