Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Kofi Kinaata paid homage to the late Ghanaian music great, Castro, during his captivating performance at Afrochella 2022.
The most loved Ghanaian artiste seized the crowd with his astonishing entry on the first day of the African music festival as he represented the West side with a masquerade outfit.
His refreshing performances of his back-to-back hit songs took revelers to the cloud of ecstasy but the sudden boisterous roar from the crowd erupted when the tunes hit his featured single “Odo Pa” with the late Castro.

Not only did he reminisce about thrilling moments of Castro but he honoured his memories with a beautiful t-shirt housing the Ghanaian legend’s image.
Kinaata was a long-standing friend and family to Castro in the music industry. Castro was one of the top Hiplife/Highlife artistes in his days who contributed greatly to Ghanaian music breaking international boundaries.
He had the whole country on hold with his massive hits including “Boneshaker, “Olofofo” “Seihor”, and “Jealousy Go Shame” among several others on his catalogue with his featured song with Sarkodie, “Adonai” becoming a global hit and amassing 89m views on YouTube.
Castro however did not get to live out his feat in the music space after the singer went missing in July 2014 with one Janet Bandu while on holiday at the Ada Estuary with a host of friends including the former Black Star Captain Asamoah Gyan, his brother Baffour among others.
Reports at the time suggested Castro and Miss Janet Bandu drowned following a Jet Ski accident at Ada Estuary.
After almost 10 years since the tragedy, Castro still lives on.
The December festivities in Ghana just got started with #YHolidayHavoc taking centre stage and bringing you memorable experiences across the various party venues.
After initiating its series of refreshing activities, the Afrochella Music festival came to fruition with epic performances from a host of African artistes defining this year’s theme “Afrofuturism”.
Patrons were thrilled with mouthwatering performances from artistes including, Kwesi Arthur, Arya Starr, Fireboy, Gyakie, Kuami Eugene, Shatta Wale, the African Dancehall King and the festival’s day 1 headliner, Stonebwoy among several others.
