Ghanaian musician King Paluta has taken a swipe at music streaming platform Boomplay over what he describes as unpaid earnings despite strong streaming numbers.
The reaction comes after Boomplay shared its Top 10 most streamed Ghanaian artistes for Q1 2026 on X on April 7, where King Paluta placed sixth as ranking that didn’t sit well in wake of no financial reward.
“Yes, but no money. You people are taking us for granted and it’s so wrong, BoomplayMusic,” he wrote.
His comments add to growing concerns among Ghanaian artistes over royalty structures on streaming platforms, with many questioning transparency and fairness in revenue distribution.
The situation also follows a similar move by music duo Lali × Lola, who petitioned Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George over unpaid royalties from Boomplay.
According to Boomplay’s Q1 2026 rankings, Black Sherif leads the list, followed by Shatta Wale in second, Kweku Smoke in third, Daddy Lumba in fourth, Kofi Kinaata in fifth, King Paluta in sixth, and Stonebwoy in seventh, with Sarkodie, Lasmid, and Esther Smith completing the top 10.
