Despite their opening day win against Leicester City on Friday night, many have doubted Jose Mourinho’s reign in charge at Old Trafford after an average pre-season and a lack of transfer activity.
In fact, before the game, the 55-year-old became favourite to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked at 5/1, with Sky Bet placing the likes of Leicester City manager Claude Puel and Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock below the 55-year-old.
The question remains: who would take over at Old Trafford?Well, one man in particular has been linked with the post and today’s reports have only added more fuel to the fire.
Last month, former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is currently without a job, was favourite to take over the reigns at Old Trafford at 4/1 with Betfair and Paddy Power, according to Oddschecker.
Now, French publication L’Equipe claim that Zidane is eyeing a move to the Premier League.
The report goes on to state that the Champions League winning manager is keen on taking Jose Mourinho’s job and managing Manchester United.
Last month, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was second favourite at 11/2, while Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League three times, is at 10/1.
Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs was also among the list, while Antonio Conte, Luis Enrique and Brendan Rodgers, of all people, are also linked.
