As if there was any questions about him left Zlatan Ibrahimovic certainly made sure everyone knew he belonged in the Premier League with his last minute winner against Southampton and he could be here for a while longer.
For years Ibra didn’t come to the Premier League and people wondered if he was good enough to make it in England, they even questioned how impressive his PSG record really was- it was ‘only’ France after all.
However at 35 Ibra has moved to England and taken the league by storm with an impressive 15 goals so far in his first season, scoring more than a third of United’s league goals.
At the moment Ibra’s future isn’t decided as he only signed a one year deal at Old Trafford but that includes the option of another year.
However according to the Mirror today the big Swede is working on a new deal to stay with the 13 time Premier League champions for another two seasons!
If he were to agree to the one year option on his current deal then Zlatan would continue to earn the £300k-a-week he is currently on with no guarantee of staying after that.
But the former AC and Inter Milan striker wants to negotiate a deal that would keep him in Manchester to summer 2019, aged 37, with a better wage for himself.
With Wayne Rooney likely to leave the club in the summer that would potentially free up some money at the club and could allow Ibra to earn even more money.
Despite being 35 and having never played in England before the striker has allayed any fears about being able to cope having played every minute in the league and being just two goals off top goalscorers Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
If United decided against giving him a two year deal then the PSG all time top goalscorer could refuse to sign his current one year option.
That would leave him free to find a new club and he wouldn’t be short of options with clubs in Europe, MLS and mega rich China reportedly interested.
Defenders better get used to the sight of Zlatan!
