Gianluigi Buffon Reveals The Top Three Stadiums He's Played In

Legendary goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has listed Ibrox as one of the best stadiums he’s ever played in, with Liverpool‘s iconic Anfield also in the World Cup winner’s top three.
The former Juventus goalie is no with PSG as he makes one last attempt to finally get his hands on the Champions League trophy this season, and whilst he hasn’t actually lifted the famous cup, Buffon is as experienced as just about any footballer in the European game.
He’s sampled the atmosphere inside all of the footballing world’s most incredible cathedrals; from the Nou Camp to Old Trafford, Buffon has kept goal in just about all of them.
The 40-year-old was asked this week by fans on his Instagram story about his favourite venues, and he didn’t need much time to come up with a few suggestions, with Rangers’ ground pretty close to the top.
He said via football italia: “There are a lot of them.
“Definitely Anfield, in Liverpool, that was one of the few stadiums – along with Rangers in Glasgow and Fenerbahce in Istanbul – where there was such commotion for the first 15-20 minutes that I had trouble concentrating.
The World Cup winning goalkeeper also revealed the games from his career that he’ll never forget and the match last season against Real Madrid, in the Champions League semi-final, where he was sent off gets in the list.
“The matches I won’t forget are my Parma debut against Milan, many other matches with Parma like the UEFA Cup win, the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana.” Buffon added.
“With Juventus there’s the semi-final win over Real Madrid in 2003.
“And, ignoring the epilogue which I didn’t want, Real Madrid-Juventus last year, when I was sent off, was a dream game, one every player dreams of playing in.
“It was emotional because, despite everything that was against us, we tried to make it a quarter-final. And we did it. The epilogue wasn’t the best, but I’ve never felt the sensations I did on that dream night.
“The best game? Every final is pure emotion, but if I have to say one I’d say the World Cup final, even if that’s slightly predictable.”
Coming from a bona fide legend like Buffon, it’s a pretty big compliment to find your stadium on his list.
