COVID-19: e.TV Ghana & Japan Motors donate ‘Run Ghana Bucket’ to the Ghana Blind Union

July 21, 2020
in News

Ghanaian broadcasting giant, e.TV Ghana and renowned car dealership, Japan Motors with support from the Run Ghana initiative have donated a ‘Run Ghana Bucket’ to the Ghana Blind Union.
The ‘Run Ghana Bucket’ was donated by the companies as part of their joint efforts and contributions to aid in the fight against the novel coronavirus which has gone berserk around the world.
The Ghana Blind Union annually receives part of proceeds obtained from the e.TV Ghana/Japan Motors Corporate Run. But with the coronavirus pandemic still spreading and the ban on public gatherings still in effect, the public run has been cancelled.
Regardless of the cancellation of the public run, the companies refused to go back on their pledge after donating the ‘Run Ghana Bucket’ to the Union and promised to gather resources and return to make a grander contribution to the welfare of members of the Union.
The Executive Director of the Ghana Blind Union, Dr. Peter Obeng Asamoah, received the ‘Run Ghana Bucket’ on behalf of the Union with appreciation written all over his face.
He stated, “We are grateful for the donation. One of our problems has been that of touching. But with the touchless run Ghana bucket, we are able to wash our hands without touching. It is very innovative and we hope most organizations see this and support us as well.”
He proceeded to thank e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors for their partnership and continuous contribution to the Ghana Blind Union (GBU).
The Director of Lakeside Estates and Events Director at Run Ghana, Mr. Salah Kalmoni who was also present at the handing over of the ‘Run Ghana Bucket’ noted that difficult times like this warrant unity.
“In the wake of COVID-19, this year’s corporate-run will be greatly affected. Nonetheless, Japan Motors and e.TV will not relent in their efforts to support the GBU. We have thus resolved to donate this year even without the proceeds from the run this year.”
“We believe the Union needs our support now more than ever. This is why we also appeal to individuals and organizations to join us in supporting the union.”
He also added that regardless of the public run having been cancelled, “We encourage everyone to join the Run Ghana club to exercise and keep up with the regular exercises to keep fit and stay healthy.
Mr. Kalmoni speaking to the media also mentioned that as part of activities to mark the 10 years anniversary of the Corporate Run, an anniversary magazine was being designed to remember participants of the many milestones chalked over the years. He used the opportunity to call upon corporate bodies to get a slot in the magazine as, “Portions of the proceeds from the magazine sales will be donated to the GBU.”
The Event Manager for Run Ghana, Zuta Teye Isaac noted that regardless of the public run being cancelled, individuals can partake in a competitive virtual run. Explaining the modalities, Zuta said, “You can sign up for the virtual run by signing up to the Run Ghana application. With this virtual run, you don’t only get to exercise but, a part of your sign-up fee of a GH₵100.00 will be donated to the Ghana Blind Union and other institutions.”
He further appealed to the Ghanaian populace to sign up in their numbers to support the union.
Commenting on the donation, Programmes Manager of e.TV Ghana, Mrs. Nosisa Doe said, “e.TV Ghana is committed to being a socially responsible organization contributing to societal goals. Our engagement with the Ghana Blind Union has afforded us the opportunity to contribute to our society.”
“This year, characterized by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, has brought a lot of dynamics including the halt of the corporate run. Nonetheless, our self-given duty to donate to the GBU will continue. We urge individuals and corporate bodies to support this course and impact the lives of others.”
She appreciated all bodies and companies who had taken part in the run over the past years and passionately appeal to all to regard the safety protocols against the Covid-19 pandemic.
