Creative director applauds colleagues for creating quality content over the years

Zylofon Media’s in-house music video producer, Abass Abdul Salami has commended Ghanaian creative directors for stepping up their game in creating good music videos in present day.

Comparing music videos made in Ghana to the world, he insisted, “our local creative directors are doing well as compared to some 5-10 years back. In terms of quality, we are gradually getting there.”

Talking to Macall Mesah on Y Entertainment Podium, he said, “Right now, the Ghanaian creative directors are doing well. But, we cannot compare our work and progress to that of Nigerians and other countries because they invest a lot in their music videos more than we do,” he said.

According to him, one reason why it took a while for the Ghanaian creative industry to get to where we are today is because of the lack of investors.

He explained that, in Nigeria and other countries, there are investors in the industry and that makes it easier for them to produce the quality videos we see.

Citing Nigeria as an example he said, “They are also more populated than us so, they get people to watch their videos which also help increase their views.”

“In Ghana we don’t have investors and people hardly support and push the industry so the directors are the only ones pushing and doing all the work. So far, they have and are still doing their best,” he added.

He highlighted that with all he has seen for the past 5 to 10 years, it is obvious that the Ghanaian creative directors are working hard and doing their best.

“I can even say boldly that we are currently on the same level as they are, and with a little push and more investors, we will be able to do more than they are doing,” he stated.

Abass advised that if Ghanaians want quality music videos and to reach the standard of Nigerians and other countries then, they should be ready to invest.

“Everything good has to be pushed with money and the same applies to good music videos so be ready to spend if you want a good music video.”

Giving an approximation of how much it will cost to create a quality music video Abass said, “I will not give the specific amount but, depending on the quality the person wants, you should budget over 50,000ghc upwards because a quality music video costs and involves a lot.”
