Volunteering Development Officer, France Volomtaires Ghana, Fofogan Doku has identified cultural exchange as an important tool for strengthening relationships between Francophone and Anglophone countries.
Sharing insights from experience on episode 3 of FrancoVybz, Doku revealed that connecting countries across the linguistic divide goes beyond language and requires meaningful interaction between their cultures.
He shared that cultural exchanges can create opportunities for people from both sides to better understand each other and appreciate their similarities and differences. “Culture is the most strong way to connect people.” he said.
Doku stressed the importance of strengthening these exchanges as Ghana and other Anglophone countries continue to engage with Francophone nations. “When you look at the French community they like, such as foods, drinks. For the French people it is usually wine. If you want to connect with a Ghanaian it is not necessarily wine maybe it is Kasapreko.”
The conversation formed part of the third episode of FrancoVybz, hosted by award-winning broadcaster Rev Erskine. The podcast seeks to examine the cultural, creative and professional connections between Ghana and the Francophone world, while creating a platform for discovery and exchange among young audiences.
