Fantana’s mother risks losing Jomoro Parliamentary seat

The mother of Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, is likely to lose her validity as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Jomoro constituency in the Nzema West Municipal District.

The legislator has been in court since April as a defendant for holding dual citizenship and being a member of parliament in Ghana, which the 1992 constitution of Ghana frowns upon.

Hon Dorcas after a series of intense trials and court summons finally admitted to allegations levelled against her for holding dual citizenship in court.

According to her, she was born in Ivory Coast on May 4, 1971, in a town called Adzope, hence an Ivorian by birth, and later registered as a Ghanaian citizen in 1972 on May 4 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Amidst all the controversies and court proceedings, the daughter of the MP Francine Koffie better known as Fantana in entertainment has kept silent and has not uttered a word on the matter since the start of the court case.

The court has therefore been adjourned to July 18, 2022, for continuation on the issue. However, the Honourable Member can continue to operate as a Member of Parliament since her seat has not been declared vacant.
