Formal education is not enough to achieve success – CEO YOKS Rent-A-Car

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YOKS Rent-A-Car, Seth Yeboah Ocran, has argued that in as much as formal education is important one needs more than that to attain success.

Describing his life as an interesting journey, he stated, “I always believed education is the key to everything we do but that alone is not enough.”

At age 14, Seth Yeboah Ocran lost both parents in succession truncating his education suddenly. “I was a bit devastated when I lost my parents. Within the first-year family members pledge to support me but that didn’t happen and you can’t blame them.”

With this financial hurdle, he decided to quit school altogether and continue when he could afford it. “I couldn’t continue so I made a decision to quit. I didn’t make it through the whole journey of formal education and sometimes I ask myself if things would’ve turned out how it is now if I had completed the journey.”

In an interview on Y107.9FM’s Leaderboard Series with the Myd Morning Radio show’s LJ, he recounted how his parents always taught him to make the best of every situation. “They taught me life is what we make it. You don’t need to be told to go to school but you can learn on your own and still make it.”

The businessman quit school and started out as a trotro mate (bus conductor), doing other menial jobs until the birth of YOKS Rent-A-Car.

He lives by the mantra, “there is always something you can do if you want to do something for yourself.”
