YFM’s Multi-award-winning artiste, Michael Owusu better known as DJ Mic Smith has grabbed the DJ/Artiste Collaboration of the Year Award at the just ended Ghana DJ Awards.
DJ Mic Smith, who is the host of Y107.9 FM’s ‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’ show, besides the great music he serves on the show, is also involved in music production where he features great acts both local and international.
It comes as no surprise that one of his recent collaborations with Ghanaian artistes which is dubbed ‘Juju’ has been making waves and has ultimately earned him the award for DJ/Artiste Collaboration at this year’s Ghana DJ Awards.
The avid DJ’s ‘Juju’ was in a battle with other ingenious music by DJ Sly and Ice Prince’s ‘Alert’, DJ Justice, Stonebwoy and Fameye’s ‘Danaase’, DJ Vyrusky and Shatta Wale’s ‘Afro Dance’ and DJ Xpliph, DopeNation and Kofi Pages’ ‘Be Mine’.
Speaking on his award, DJ Mic Smith expressed his elation and gratitude to all those who supported him.
“It is a great privilege that this manifestation of hard work, determination and passion has received such a recognition. I am very pleased with it. I want to say a hearty thank you to all the musicians and Kayso who contributed to this star-studded collabo. I am also grateful to all who voted to bring us this far”, he said.
Programmes Manager of YFM, Eddy Blay congratulated DJ Mic Smith on his win as he said: “I am proud of DJ Mic Smith. I wish to use this opportunity to congratulate him on his win. And I believe there are more wins awaiting him. I say a big Ayekoo once again”.
