The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), through its School of Technology and Social Sciences (SOTSS), has hosted its maiden Tech Fair and Industry Showcase Exhibition, creating a platform for students to demonstrate innovative solutions to real-world challenges through technology.

Held at the GIMPA Conference Centre on June 3, 2026 the event brought together investors, technology enthusiasts, industry leaders and members of academia to witness student-led projects designed to address pressing societal and business needs. The exhibition marked a significant milestone for the institution as the first event of its kind.

Delivering the welcome address, Dean of Students, Emmanuel Adabor, described the exhibition as a reflection of GIMPA’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical problem-solving.

“Today’s exhibition is a testament to the creativity, dedication and innovative spirit of our students. We are creating opportunities for young people to move beyond theory and develop solutions that can make meaningful impact in society,” he stated.

Senior Lecturer and Chairman of the Students’ Project Committee at SOTSS, Dr. Emmanuel Antwi Boasiako, commended the students for their ingenuity and their determination to use technology as a tool for transformation.

He noted that the presence of investors and leading companies at the fair presented students with opportunities beyond academic recognition.

“This platform is not only about showcasing projects. It is also about creating opportunities for students to connect with industry, attract investment, secure business partnerships and even gain employment opportunities,” he said.

The exhibition also highlighted the growing participation of women in technology and engineering, a development championed by Dr. Felicia Engman, Head of Department and Coordinator for Women in IT and Engineering.

According to her, the overwhelming response and quality of projects presented exceeded expectations and signal greater achievements ahead.

“The level of innovation we have witnessed today is remarkable. This is a strong beginning and I must say they are doing very well,” she remarked.

Dean of the GIMPA Business School, Professor Aquah Obeng, emphasized the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies in solving modern-day challenges.

He encouraged students to identify inefficiencies within businesses and develop innovative solutions capable of improving productivity and operational efficiency.

“Technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, is reshaping how businesses operate. I encourage our students to look beyond the classroom, identify real business challenges and create solutions that can transform industries and improve lives,” he stated.

The 2026 Tech Fair and Industry Showcase and Exhibition forms part of GIMPA’s broader commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and industry collaboration while preparing students to become solution-driven leaders in an increasingly digital world.
