I grew up with the dream of being a banker-CEO, B&FT

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Business and Financial Times Newspaper, Dr. Mrs. Edith Dankwa, has confessed that her current field of work which she now so much loves is not exactly the dream she had growing up.
Speaking with Rev. Erskine on season 2 of the Y-Leaderboard Series, a youth empowering segment on YFM’s Myd-Morning Radio Show, she stated that all she wanted to be at the time was a banker or an administrator.
“I knew that I would definitely climb the ladder but for me, I wanted to be in the financial sector and thank God, I started my National Service with City Savings and Loans which became Intercontinental and then Access Bank”, she said.
According to her, it was not much of a pleasant experience there but after her National Service, she had the opportunity to join the Business in Africa Magazine. She took the opportunity and was hired as the administrator even though she was still then a fresh graduate.
The CEO shared, “I was challenged and for me, that was the best thing that ever happened to me because then again, it wasn’t all rosy. It was quite challenging but the fact that I had to always be on my feet and had to think, even when I didn’t know, I would ask unhesitatingly both inside and outside the organization to make sure that I’m achieving results”.
Dr. Mrs. Dankwa noted that what drives her is achieving results hence to make sure she’s achieving, whatever she needs to do, be it learning or asking, she is always humble enough to do so.
