One of Ghana’s biggest food business owners and the Granpapa of hiplife music in Ghana, Reggie Rockstone, says he has very big visions for his fast food restaurant, Rockz Waakye.
According to Reggie, he does not get why Ghanaians are all fighting for jollof, waiting for his old self to come remind us that we have waakye.
“We’re pimping the rice and beans to the human beings right now and we intend to be as big as KFC, McDonalds and all those foreign folks you look up to. We’re about to cancel all that because we will have Rockz Waakye all over. Everyone eats waakye and we operate 24hours a day”, he said.
He confessed to host, Princess AJ in an interview on YFM’s Y-leaderboard Series that it amazes him a lot that people have now made him synonymous with waakye whereas in the beginning, people found him funny anytime he talked about selling waakye.
“It’s amazing today that I have become synonymous with waakye. Everytime I go on social media, let anybody say they want to eat waakye today and it’s like ‘Reggie, you have a phone call’, and it’s from all over the world”, he said.
Talking about how he felt when people did not take him serious from the start, he expressed, “I’m like are you crazy? Do you really think I’m a dummy? When I talk about something, I’m gonna take it to the top and I gave them JahWaakye, I gave them Rockz Waakye and today, we’re number one”.
Rockstone hinted that there will soon be another branch of Rockz Waakye opened in East Legon while the current one inside Cantonments remains the head office.
