The Mensah Sarbah Hall transformed its Vendors Court into a vibrant runway on Thursday, July 23, 2026, as students gathered for Heritage & High Fashion: The Cultural Runway, one of the headline events of Mensah Sarbah Hall Hall Week – Ascenova 2026.
The fashion night brought together culture and contemporary style, with students taking to the runway in custom-made outfits inspired by the iconic Mensah Sarbah Hall cloth. The showcase celebrated Ghanaian heritage while blending it with modern campus fashion, creating an evening filled with creativity, elegance and self-expression.
On the sidelines of the runway show were interactive fill-in-the-blank and charade games, giving students the opportunity to walk away with exciting prizes and freebies from event partners including Munchee Biscuits, Pantha Drinks, Dr. Teal’s, Twellium, Kivo, Family Tomati Mix, Apple Man, Yes Chef, and Eddy’s Pizza.
Adding industry expertise to the judging panel was Rehkia Danian, representing Lush Hair, the event’s fashion partner. Her presence, alongside the other judges, brought a professional touch to the competition as contestants were assessed on creativity, confidence, originality and how well they interpreted the night’s cultural theme.
In an exclusive interview with YFM, Danian expressed how thrilling it was to see the student models strut away on the runway with stunning designs that had a distinct relation to the hall week celebrations. “As a Lush Hair ambassador, we are confident and lean towards the soft life which were traits seen in most of the models. I’m an alumni of Legon but I never came to Mensah Sarbah this hall week was just amazing and YFM just gave us amazing music. I could not stop dancing in my seat.”
The Heritage & High Fashion Night forms part of a series of impactful events curated by YFM’s Events Unit, a team dedicated to creating memorable experiences for young audiences and campus communities.
This year’s Hall Week celebrations being the first after four years, have recorded massive participation as YFM continues to bring its expertise, resources, and strategic approach to elevate campus experiences.
Mensah Sarbah Hall’s partnership with YFM establishes a new standard and sets ASCENOVA 26 among the biggest and most exciting Hall Week celebrations on campus.
