Fast rising vocalist, Mishasha-Iboro Jacob Essien widely known as Mish J has proved anything is attainable if you keep polishing on your vocals, lyrics and delivery.
The development of her unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence growing up in a talented classical musical family and strong classical vocalist sisters, with all her family members playing at least one musical instrument like; Violin, flute, clarinet, piano, Viola, trombone, Mishasha plays the flute, violin and the piano and draws inspiration from her family.
“I’m a vibrant lady who can lighten up any room, a positive person that see positivity in everything and a voice that can change your mood, emotions and more with my voice, words and harmonies. I believe in fusion when it comes to music so I also try to experiment with several sounds and vibes when I’m recording.”
Her first foray into singing and learning a musical instrument was drawn from church, where her sisters would tag her along for choir/instrument rehearsals and that made her sign up on sight-reading (sofa notation) and transposing music, song writing and the likes. She started her first musical performance in high school at the age of 14, over the years, she performs at karaoke bars and has developed a huge passion in singing.

Mish J started recording in 2017 and has released three great records since she made her official debut as an artist in 2018.
After honing her unique sound over recent years, she is now preparing to release her debut album “Lost But Free” which underlines the changes and experiences she has been through in life. The songs provide a combination of inspiring lyrics and good classical beats; punctuated throughout elements of hip-hop, jazz, Afro pop and R&B.
“To a first time listener, I’m here with a different sound, lyrics alongside vibes most people can relate to and “Hearts Won’t Lie” is part of an album which is currently being record. The record was inspired by stories my friends shared with me regarding their relationships and I infused my personal experiences about love and everything that comes with it to put together this record.
“I believe sharing messages with music is powerful and it’s easy for people to draw inspiration from the song and since it’s a record, it’s easy for people to listen to it in their own time and space if they have a copy of it. There’s also the live performance aspect of it which allows you to connect with people directly.”

“I didn’t join music because I feel it’s a trend or I’m from a musical family, I picked up music because I have experiences and stories I want to share with the world and I believe now is the time.”
