Norwich City Fan Leaves £100 In His Will For Players To Enjoy A Pint

Norwich City fan Barrie Greaves left the club £100 in his will so the players could have a pint on him, to thank them for the entertainment they provided during his life.
Lifelong Norwich fan Barrie passed away on December 28th, aged 83, and in his will he left enough for a round for the players.
Speaking to the Norfolk News, his youngest daughter Dr Sarah Greaves, said, “He always told me that he would give £100 to the players in his will. He wanted to give it to them to thank them for their entertainment through the good times and the bad.
“It makes me smile and chuckle when I think about it. He wanted to make a gesture that was amusing. He liked winding me up about football as much as I liked winding him up about it.”

Mr Greaves was introduced to the club by his grandfather aged 10 and was a season ticket holder up until 2018 when he had to stop going to matches due to kidney failure, but continued to listen to the games on radio.
His two daughters and three grandchildren are all fans of the Premier League club and are all season ticket holders at Carrow Road. “Norwich City will be a never-ending legacy in my family,” his daughter added.

The Canaries returned to the top tier of English football this season for the first time since 2016 after winning the Championship last season.
Despite a huge shock win over Manchester City early in the season it’s been a difficult season for the East Anglia side and they’re now bottom of the table and five points behind fellow strugglers Watford, after the Hertfordshire side’s recent upturn in fortunes.
Farke’s team are seven points from safety after winning just three of their 21 league games so far.

The Canaries travel to Manchester to face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United on the weekend before what is a relegation six pointer against Bournemouth a week later.
If they can come away from the next two games with positive results then the players will have well and truly earned their pints from Mr Greaves.
