#OldGeezOnY: The Akosua Agyapong Untold

Akosua Agyapong was born on November 17, 1969, in Accra to Asante and Akyem parents. She attended Holy Child Senior High School, Cape Coast in the Central region of Ghana for her secondary education.

Her music career started at a tender age when she was discovered by Highlife legend Nana Ampadu in the 1990s. She released her debut album in January 1990 dubbed ‘Frema’. The album consisted of inspirational songs including ‘Me ye Obaa’ which became very popular, ‘Born again’, ‘Anan tuo’, ‘San be hwe wo mba’ among others.

She released her second album titled ‘Esiwa’, after she met and got inspired by Rex Omar and Nat Brew. The album became an instant hit.

She formed a music group together with her fellow highlife artists, Nat Brew and Rex Omar ‘NAKOREX’, the group’s name being an acronym made up of the first two letters of each member’s name and released a song titled ‘Kpanlogo’.

Akosua Agyapong took a long break in her music career and returned as a Gospel artiste, she has five albums and other music records to her credit.

Akosua Agyapong got married to her music colleague Amandzeba Nat Brew and later divorced.

Akosua Agyapong is currently married to Prophet Daniel Asamoah-Larbi with six children.
