PHG Foundation & Consultancy Partners, a leading grassroots innovation development center, has launched a comprehensive program to address the devastating effects of galamsey mining in Ghana.
Galamsey mining has wreaked havoc on Ghana’s water bodies, plants, rivers, food, animal, and human lives, posing a significant threat to the environment and human health. Despite government efforts, the problem persists.
PHG Foundation & Consultancy Partners is calling on all stakeholders, including communities, small-scale miners, government agencies, and environmental protection organizations, to collaborate on a sustainable solution.
Our approach focuses on:
- Bottom-up community engagement
- Water recycling and treatment engineering systems
- Land reclamation and alternate livelihood skills training
- Law enforcement and reforms
- Human-centered solutions
We have designed a Sustainable Health & Environment Protection Programme to protect water bodies, plants, lives, and land resources with sustainable mining
We have launched an award recognition program to identify and reward communities and individuals employing community sustainability measures in Ghana.
