Radio and TV content must be sanitized-Kwami Sefa Kayi

Renowned Ghanaian presenter, Kwami Sefa Kayi, popularly known as Chairman General has bemoaned the lowered standards in the media space and has thus called for a regulation of the broadcast media to check this occurence.
In an interview with Rev Erskine on the Y Leaderboard series segment of the Myd Morning Radio show, he noted: “We would have to regulate radio and television, not restrict. We have to be sincere that some of the things that we do on radio and television are so offensive that we have to honestly find a way to sanitize it”.
Kwame expressed concerns over the programming on our televisions and the impact it has on the younger generation.
“You will watch videos of semi-nude girls at eleven in the morning or in the afternoon. You may think it is old school thinking but wait till you start having your own children. You will realize the danger. I grew up on Osofo Dadzie, Cantata, etc. What are our children growing up on? What images are they watching on TV and what are the voices they are listening to on the radio? What are we inculcating into our children? It is really important to me. I think we have failed a bit on it and need to find a way to fix the problem. Anybody gets up and he is on the radio because he has a good voice or an opinion or an opportunity. Any face is on TV because they look good, they have the flair or the opportunity. Where are the standards? Where is the training and those who should be in charge?”, he queried.
Kwame Sefa Kayi is currently the host of Kokroko, the morning political show on Peace FM.
