#reImagineGH2017: Stories, Standards, Sex the Digital World

March 31, 2017
in News

120 million Africans are online via social media. Online is a new tool to better tell the story of Ghana to the world, to do business and to do this with a freedom. It is a place where we can protest and where we have power. But, exactly how powerful is the world of online when it comes to media? What kinds of standards do we have? How are women treated in this brave, new digital world? What types of stories are we able to tell through digital media?
#reImagineGH:stories, standards, sex is in its 2nd year.  We examine the world of ONLINE. Our theme is the 4 Ps: POWER, PROTEST, PROFIT, PAIN.
In its first year, this premier Ghana media summit was a trending topic in Ghana, and attracted media features on air, on TV and online from Starr FM, Joy FM, Citi FM, GHOne and The Spin.
This year, #reImagineGH2017: stories, standards, sex takes on the world of ONLINE. We are back! Bigger and better!
What types of stories are we able to tell through digital media? In Year 2 of #reImagineGH2017, the annual Ghana media summit takes on the stories, standards, and treatment of sex in the world of online.
Hosted by Webster University (Ghana Campus), the media summit creator, panel moderator, and Webster faculty, Esther Armah, says it is crucial for the world of media to gather and explore how we tell our stories, assess our standards, and confront how we deal with this issue of sex in this online space.
Powerful, provocative and necessary, #reImagineGH2017 is Ghana’s premier media summit for the world of media, the communications industry, and those who participate in the online world.
#reImagineGH2017 has put together panels and a keynote address that will confront, engage and explore these issues. Webster University Ghana campus welcomes:
Keynote Speaker
Anita Erskine – Broadcaster, Starr FM Radio Host
 Panel 1:
Nana Ama Agyemang Asante – Writer and Citi FM Morning Show Co-Host
Nana Akousa Hanson – Writer, Poet, YFM Broadcaster, Creator Let’s Talk Consent
 Panel 2:
Efo Dela – Blogger, Poet and Satirist
Kwame Acheampong – Deputy Editor, Starr FM online.
The panels will be moderated by Esther Armah, an award winning journalist, radio host of the award winning podcast The Spin, and Webster University (Ghana Campus) faculty member.  She teaches Journalism, and Media Communications, while also serving as a columnist for Business & Financial Times.  Psychology
