Nigerian Singer and songwriter, Rema, has called on Nigerian Disc Jokey DJ Neptune to pull down his intellectual property ‘For You’ from DJ Neptune’s ‘Greatness 2.0’ album.
What was believed to be a joke got intense after the singer went onto his Twitter page to express his displeasure and disappointment in the ‘senior men’ in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Rema in expressing his disgust at the act of DJ Neptune disclosed that he could not recount the last time he had a conversation with the famous Disc Jocker and advised that the codes of the industry not be undermined. He added that his management confronted DJ Neptune after the tracklist was released some days ago and the DJ went on to release the song without his consent.
“Don’t violate the codes. Can’t drop my song without my notice. Can’t even remember the last time we spoke big bro, I pleaded with my manager behind the scenes when y’all tagged me before it dropped, y’all still went ahead! c’mon nau!” the post read.
The ‘Soundgasm’ hitmaker also explained how he had been taken advantage of several times in the industry but kept quiet because he had his family to fend for.
“This GAME has slapped me too many times on the cheek, I dey quiet because I get people interest to protect and a family to feed. Abeg I sabi mind my business but make nobody vex me o.”
Rema again warned his colleague and other industry players not to take advantage of him because he was humble and timid. He added that his craft was one of the things he could not be talked out to let go of issues.
“This GAME! Don’t ride on my humility, there are some things I can’t be talked out of and number 1 is my ART, if you’re not ok with it then if it’s war it’s WAR. Don J go vex for me, Baba forgives me but this no joins at all.”
Rema after the outburst on social media admitted that he knows his actions will win him a lot of enemies, however, he believes God is bigger than the music industry and everyone else, hence, he is not bothered about that.
