Thierry Henry To Be Appointed Monaco Manager After Leonardo Jardim's Dismissal

Thierry Henry will be appointed the new manager of Monaco after the club’s sacking of Leonardo Jardim.

Unnamed sources have told ESPN that the former Arsenal striker and current assistant coach of the Belgium national team is set to be his successor.

Henry, who had previously been linked with Aston Villa following the sacking of Steve Bruce, started off his career with the French club in 1995.
He made over 100 appearances for Monaco and scored 20 times for the club.
The former Juventus and Barcelona striker enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign in the summer with Roberto Martínez’s Belgium side after securing a third-place finish.

The 41-year-old had been linked with the manager’s role at Bordeaux after the tournament, though he turned it down and was promoted to Martínez’s number two.

“We are delighted that he has decided to stay with the Red Devils, and to stay with what we started in the World Cup in Russia, a very important moment for us,” the Belgium boss said in August (via the Punch).
“We are looking forward to [welcoming] him back, now he is going to have a bigger role in terms of his contribution on a daily basis, because now he is going to [be] full time in the structure of the Belgian federation.”
Monaco won the Ligue 1 title in the 2016-17 season, but they have had a poor start to their campaign this time around and are currently sat in 18th place in the league.
In contrast, Paris Saint-Germain have had an incredible start to their title defence and have won all nine of their opening matches in the league, which included former Monaco striker Kylian Mbappé scoring four times in 13 minutes against Lyon.
