Trigmatic to speak on "Women and Youth Inclusion in Responsible Agriculture Investment' organized by UN (FAO)

Trigmatic will be participating in a panel discussion on the subject “Women and Youth Inclusion in Responsible Agriculture Investment” organized by UN (FAO) today, Friday 20, 2018 at the British Council.
Between 2015 and 2017, FAO organized two multi-stakeholder workshops on responsible agricultural investment in Accra, Ghana as part of the Inter-Agency Working Group programme on principles guiding new investment in agriculture. The second workshop focused on inclusion of women and youth in agricultural investment.  Participants of this workshop committed to a draft action plan for involvement of women and youth in agricultural investment consisting of five thematic areas: 1 Land Access and Acquisition; 2 Rural knowledge networks for knowledge sharing; 3 Agriculture innovation and Information and Communication Technology (ICT); 4 Youth and women-led agribusiness start-ups; and 5 Public-private partnerships.
More opportunities for dialogue through recurring meetings and via social media were also requested. After discussions with local actors, FAO, therefore, decided to assist with setting up a multi-stakeholder Online Forum.
Purpose of the Online Forum
The purpose of the Online Forum are to assist stakeholders to engage in inclusive and informed dialogue and share knowledge and information on advocacy, capacity development needs, and market opportunities for involvement of women and youth in agricultural investment. Participants will also be able to use the Online Forum to coordinate activities outlined in the action plan.
Platform and approach
A DGroup has been set up and is currently pilot-tested by a group of key-stakeholders. To further solicit interest and inquire stakeholder expectations, a  launch event in Accra is planned for April 2018.
Thematical prompting questions will be used to: stimulate dialogue; ensure that the dialogue stays on topic; assess the needs for implementing the activities outlined in the action plan; and, encourage coordination and cooperation.
The Online Forum will initially be administered by FAO. The use of the Dgroups platform is currently free of charge. Therefore, once established, the Online Forum may become a permanent forum managed by FAO or local stakeholders, with or without the active support from FAO.
