Ghanaian movie icon, Adjetey Anang, affectionately called “Pusher” of “Things We Do For Love” fame, has shared the inspiration behind what seems to be one of the best and most successful television drama series back in the day.
According to him, the urge to make a difference with regard to contents and films in Ghana motivated the crew behind the “Things We Do For Love” drama series.
In an interview with Rev Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series, a Wednesday segment of Y107.9 FM’s “Myd Morning Radio Show”, Mr. Anang reiterated that at the time, not many shows were on the screens of Ghanaians. Hence, the team was motivated to produce a top-notch film to coze Ghanaians’ interest.
Sharing fond memories upon hearing the soundtrack of “Things We Do For Love” he said, “I go back to the times where we felt that we were the stars in town and we owned the city practically. We were just having fun and had one purpose to make an impact on our screens because there was nothing like that going on at the time. So, we were like let’s do this together and help each other. So yeah that took me back to some good memories.”
Reacting to whether the drama series heightened his life in the movie space, Adjetey Anang furthered, “I can say ‘Things We Do for Love’ changed my life in that regard. And as long as the craft is concerned, it was the platform that really projected me into limelight. It also impacted me personally on my personal life and so yeah it did.”
The prominent Ghanaian actor has built a successful career over the years after making his debut screen appearance with “Things We Do For Love”. He has since featured in several top-rated Ghanaian films including the famous “Deadly Voyage”, “The Perfect Picture”, “A Sting in a Tale” as well as a Dutch film titled “Slavery”.
