Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been on Real Madrid’s radar for some time – and now Stamford Bridge boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted he would let him go should the player want to.
“Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go. Of course, I hope the opposite. I hope he wants to stay here with us and improve.
“He has the potential to be the best player in Europe at the moment. Sometimes he is happy with something less. It’s my job to improve him and put him in a position to do his best.”
These comments may panic Chelsea fans, but that’s not it. Callum Hudson-Odoi is another name on a big club’s shopping list.
Bayern Munich reportedly offered £35million for the youngster. He handed in a transfer request last week.
And now the Chelsea manager has questioned Callum Hudson-Odoi’s respect towards the club that took him on when he was just six-years-old.
“He has to respect the club, the academy, everything. He has time,” Sarri said.
“If you are one of the best young players in Europe, maybe the academy helped you. So you have to respect this.
“He is a very great player. He will become one of the best in Europe also in another team, but he has to respect the work of the academy coaches, I think.”
Sarri added his thoughts on where the Chelsea player can best develop.
He said: “It is very difficult to go to another country and adapt immediately or play very well immediately.
“That is a difficult situation. It’s better for him to try to improve here. But that’s my opinion. I may not be right.”
The 2017 under-17 World Cup winner could follow an influx of young English players making the move to the Bundesliga.
Manchester City youth product Jadon Sancho has been a key player for Dortmund. He’s played 19 league games so far this season, with six goals and nine assists.
“If you are one of the best young players in Europe, maybe the academy helped you. So you have to respect this.
