The Sales Manager of CFAO Auto cars pre-owned vehicles department, George Karikari Bonsu has advised Ghanaians on what to examine when purchasing pre-owned cars or second hand cars.

A pre-owned or used car is a vehicle that has previously been used or has changed its ownership.

He believes that the first thing to consider before purchasing second hand car is the purpose of the car one is purchasing. According to him, one cannot buy compact car and use it in the farm and a truck car and use it as a commercial car.

Stating another important factor to consider, he mentioned that, a person needs to know the history or have some information about the car he or she is buying. Having a fair idea about the history of the car will contribute to buying a car that will have less or no fault.

“Before you decide to buy a pre-owned car, know the duty the car will play, be it for hard labor or otherwise. Also, the benefit of using a second hand car depends on the years it has been used for and number of times it has changed its ownership. Therefore, it will be of great help to check the history of the car.”

He further stated that, one should also check whether the car has a rust part, consider if there are leakages in the car and if the tank of the car is in great shape. Then again, people buying used cars should inspect thr seats, the electrical gadgets and the brake.

There is no rule to how many miles on a used car is too much but attempting to stick to the 12,000 miles per year rule is a great place to start. Hence, when purchasing a pre-owned car, look out for the right mileage to avoid problems.

Speaking on Y107.9FM’s ‘RyseNSyne’ show with Brown Berry, George Karikari cautioned Ghanaians to switch off engine of a car before checking it out.

George Karikari Bonsu concluded that, CFAO Auto cars is ready to assist people who want to sell or purchase secondhand cars and is always available with quality cars.

CFAO Ghana Ltd also known as CFAO motors is a fast growing Ghanaian automobile company that deals with motor vehicles. It operates in three segments which are motors, technologies and Europcar. Motor devision is engaged in the sales and services of vehicles and other equipment whist technology devision sells and services office equipment and machines. Europcar division deals with car rentals and other related activities.
