Ghana’s most celebrated events Hypeman, Kojo Manuel has narrated what he describes as his worst ever career experience at the just-ended Wizkid Live Concert.
The highly anticipated Wizkid Live concert over the weekend turned out to be a massive flop, as the headliner and internationally acclaimed Nigerian artiste, Wizkid made a last-minute snub with fans gathered and left frustrated and bemused.
Patrons took to social media to register their disappointment at the disrespect from the award-winning artiste.
Meanwhile, Kojo Manuel who happened to be one of the official hypemen at the event was at the receiving end of the unquenching frustrations from fans as he got a knock from a bottle thrown from the crowd.
According to him, while doing what he does best to give patrons an experience worth their money, organizers of the event kept him in the dark after they got notified of Wizkid’s intention.
He described the treatment from organizers as unfair as he vowed never to go out and hold the crowd together for event organizers, especially when headliners billed fail to show up.
“I had to leave the stage because someone threw a bottle at me. First of all, this never happened to me. Organizers didn’t give me any information as to when he was coming so we were just waiting. The thing is I cannot keep on and there’s no act, you brought dancers, DJs, other artistes and no matter how much you do, everyone wants to see the headliner. That’s why we came,” he stressed.

“That thing is that you know Manuel can hold the crowd for you and do it for 3-4 hours is not a thing that is ever going to happen again. This only happened to an extent because I was excited like everybody, trying to make sure that the energy was going to be at that level. Because I also believe and trusted the organizers that Wizkid would pull up. They hang me up to dry so it’s like you’re there and giving people the chance to put the frustration on one individual who is also very clueless about whatever business deal is going on in the back, and that was very fair,” he lamented.

Meanwhile, other reports indicate that Wizkid’s fiasco is not only Ghana-bound but extends to neighbouring country, Côte d’Ivoire. He failed again to show up at a widely publicised event at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Côte d’Ivoire as he travelled to Benin to deliver at another billed event. He is currently seen together with King Promise touring the country with the firts son of Benin.
