#WomensDayOnGMABC: I’ve always wanted to work in a male dominated field – Priscilla Ama Kwofie

March 3, 2021
in News

While it is the dream of a lot of women to be in an environment where men and women equally dominate, it is different in the case of Administrator and Shipping Officer of Go Energy, Priscilla Ama Kwofie.
According to Priscilla it has always been her wish to work in a male dominated field although it might sound absurd to any other lady. Despite all the challenges she faced she has managed to achieve that out of sheer determination.
Stating her reasons to Chelsy Sey on Y 97.9 FM’s Ryse N Shyne Show, she said, “I just loved the male dominated area. I wanted to be a captain, I wanted to wear a white uniform and I wanted to be on a ship. All that pushed me to the Regional Maritime University”.
Talking about some of her challenges she mentioned that at some point she had to change her course due to parental guidance and influence. “My father was a bit worried, he was scared if I entered an area full of men, they will intimidate me and he also wanted me close. My father eventually influenced my decision to stay back”.
For Priscilla, she always wants to be different from everyone else because she enjoys challenges. To her, challenges push her to be a better version of herself.
Answering to whether or not the guys she worked with tried to mess around with her, she answered in the negative. “No they didn’t. It was strictly professional and they understood that and there was nothing else”.
She added that, so far she has no regrets with her decision because she enjoys what she does and the environment in which she works in.
