Ghana’s number one urban and youth radio station, YFM Ghana, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Mensah Sarbah Hall JCR of the University of Ghana to support the Hall’s 2026 Hall Week celebrations, building on the success of last year’s collaboration, which helped revive the event after it had not been held for several years.
The event, held at the Senior Common Room of Mensah Sarbah Hall, brought together Management of the Hall, Management of YFM, JCR executives , committee members and the media to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a historic first for the hall.
Delivering his welcome address, the Hall Master of Mensah Sarbah Hall, Professor Roger A. Atinga, described the partnership as an exciting development that would bring significant transformation to the hall.
He noted that Mensah Sarbah Hall has consistently distinguished itself as a hall of excellence and therefore places great importance on aligning with reputable brands such as YFM.
“YFM has made tremendous impact over the years. I listen to music myself, and whenever I tune in to YFM, I realize that every business wants to associate with the brand. Having YFM here today to partner with us is a great achievement for Mensah Sarbah,” he said.
The Senior Tutor of the prestigious hall, Dr. Daniel Darko, also expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that YFM’s involvement further elevates the standards of Mensah Sarbah Hall and reinforces its position as a benchmark for other halls.
“I look forward to what this partnership will bring and the impact it is set to have on the student body,” he remarked.
Excitement grew further when the Group Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance, Mr. Ernest Boateng, shared his remarks on the impact YFM has made across Ghana’s media landscape and beyond.
According to him, YFM’s presence in Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi has empowered countless young people who are making significant contributions both in Ghana and across the world. “YFM is an exciting brand. We have always believed in the power of the youth, and while many have attempted to replicate what we do, they cannot do it the way we do. As a company, we are very excited about this partnership, and as someone who is passionate about YFM, I believe we will continue to support Mensah Sarbah,” he stated.
Director of Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company, Dr. Timothy Karikari, noted that the partnership is a testament to the exceptional work YFM has done through previous collaborations. “The great work we did during Mensah Sarbah Hall Week last year paved the way for this three-year Memorandum of Understanding. This partnership goes beyond Hall Week and is focused on creating opportunities for students, ranging from internships to potential employment. This year, YFM is all about impact, and we are committed to supporting Mensah Sarbah by giving students a professional edge through access to our presenters, personalities, and networks within the music industry and beyond,” he said.
He added that the partnership reflects YFM’s commitment to youth development and its determination to equip students with practical opportunities that will prepare them for life beyond the university.
Mensah Sarbah Hall JCR President, Nana Yaa Agyeman, speaking to YFM described the collaboration as a step in the direction for the hall and is excited about what the future holds for the hall. “I am very happy about this official partnership between the YFM brand and Mensah Sarbah. We have our hall week approaching, dubbed Ascenova and we are set to do great things with this partnership we are moving higher.”
