YFM Launches “We Dey For Each Other” Campaign to Support Victims of the Accra Floods

In response to the devastating floods that recently affected parts of Accra, YFM, Ghana’s leading English radio station and the country’s leading radio station for young audiences, has launched “We Dey For Each Other”, a nationwide humanitarian campaign under its YCares corporate social responsibility initiative to mobilise support for flood victims.

The campaign seeks to rally individuals, businesses, institutions and communities across Ghana to provide relief to families who have lost their homes, belongings and livelihoods as a result of the disaster.

Launching the initiative, Dr. Timothy Kwakye Karikari, Director of Broadcasting at Global Media Alliance Group, emphasised the important role young people can play in driving social impact.

“At YFM, we believe young people are more than the future, they are a powerful force for change today. Through the ‘We Dey For Each Other’ campaign, we are calling on Ghanaians and everyone living in Ghana to turn compassion into action by donating essential relief items, volunteering their time and encouraging others to do the same. Together, we can help families recover and remind them that they are not alone.”

Dr. Karikari explained that the campaign is designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to inspire a lasting culture of volunteerism, compassion and social responsibility among Ghana’s youth.

YFM is inviting students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, creative communities, youth groups, corporate organisations and the general public to support the initiative by donating non-perishable food items, bottled water, clothing, blankets and bedding, toiletries and sanitary products, baby supplies, school materials, as well as financial contributions to aid ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

The campaign will be amplified across radio, television, print and digital platforms, alongside community engagement activities, to encourage nationwide participation and maximise support for affected communities.

The first phase of the initiative will focus on coordinating and collecting donations. YFM will subsequently work with key state agencies, including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), to ensure that relief items are distributed efficiently to the communities most in need.

Beyond relief distribution, YFM and its partners will embark on community outreach activities that include flood education, clean-up exercises, donation drives, counselling services for affected families, medical consultations, pharmaceutical support and the station’s Heroes Campaign, which will recognise and celebrate individuals whose selfless actions helped save lives and supported vulnerable people during the floods.

“This is more than a relief campaign,” Dr. Karikari added. “It is a movement that demonstrates the power of young people coming together to restore hope, strengthen communities and inspire a spirit of unity when our nation needs it most.”

As a truly national initiative, YFM’s stations in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi are all participating in the campaign. Members of the public can donate relief items at the YFM Front Desk at Legon City Mall in Accra, YFM Kumasi, or YFM Takoradi at Takoradi Mall.

Donations and enquiries can also be made via phone or WhatsApp on 020 222 2098 or 055 542 5068, or by email at [email protected].
