The Cybercrime Unit of the Ghana Police Service Criminal Investigations Department (CID), in collaboration with the Bureau of National Investigations, has arrested a 36-year-old businessman identified as Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng over serious allegations involving multiple women.
According to reports, the East Legon-based businessman is being investigated over claims that he allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted, secretly filmed and distributed intimate videos of women online without their consent.
Speaking during a press conference held on Tuesday, May 12, 2025, Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed that the suspect allegedly operated a Telegram platform used to share explicit recordings of unsuspecting victims.
“The investigations reveal that the suspect ran a Telegram platform known as VIP Sleep Fetish 2025 where he drugged unsuspecting female victims using alprazolam, a sedative commonly known as Xanax, sexually abused them, recorded the acts and posted them on that platform,” she stated.
She further revealed that the arrest, which was carried out on May 6, opened the door for a broader cybercrime investigation following suspicions that some of the videos had been circulated through private digital channels and online platforms.
According to the CID boss, items retrieved during the operation included two iPhones; an iPhone 13 and an iPhone 17 one feature phone, a memory card, an external hard drive, a MacBook laptop, as well as sedatives including alprazolam and midazolam pills.
Officials of the Ghana Police Service are yet to release full details surrounding the ongoing investigation, while the suspect is currently being processed for court.
